What are Details and Insert Cards?

Beyond a save the date, reply card, and invitation, you may need to give your guests more information about your wedding weekend. That’s where details or insert cards come in!

What is a Details or Insert Card?

A details or insert is a card you include with the invitation and reply card. The purpose is to let your guests know additional information about your wedding that may not be found on the invitation or reply card. If there’s anything you want your guests to know in advance or out of the norm such as... your wedding is being held the same weekend as a big event is happening in the same town. That way your guests know to book their accommodations sooner than later.

What information could go on a Details or Insert Card?

  • Wedding website (and password if required)

  • Reception location (if different from ceremony)

  • Transportation, parking information, or driving directions

  • Special instructions for the venue, city, weather, or time of year

  • Attire - because everyone needs to know what to wear!

  • Wedding map

  • Accommodations information

  • Additional events like a Sunday brunch or welcome cocktails

  • Rehearsal dinner information

  • Anything just for fun! Not everything has to be informational only. How about a poem, quote, or message from the couple? Personal touches make big impressions.

How do I design Details or Insert Cards?

Like every piece of an invitation, I design thoughtfully keeping the overall vision and feel in mind. Since these types of cards don’t need envelopes, it is a place where we can play with size and even shape. Do you like tiny things? I love designing details and inserts because I love designing. I like creating pieces that coordinate with one another and details cards allow for more places to have fun with design. Also they look really great in photos with all of your other pieces… I’m just saying.
